What special figures, animals, or things would you think of for Christmas?

I asked my students (not native speaker of English) to write down the answers to the above question to see how much they know about western Christmas culture. Some responses are a bit weird: rabbit, carriage, dove, horse, angel, fireplace, candy cane, pumpkin, ice cream, elf, crystal ball, boot, fire cracker, polar bear, nutcracker, soldier puppet, merry go around, gingerbread house, turkey, cake. Which of the above are not the things that western people would usually think of for Christmas? Thanks!
